confidence from the first day you set sail.

As part of our Member registration fees, each member receives ASA certified training as well as a New Member Orientation Cruise on their new yacht. This ensures that each new member hits the water with
assurance and know-how.

ASA Courses Offered at Sail Ventures Sailing School

New Member Orientation Cruise

Included With Membership
This required educational cruise will help each new member learn about all of the outstanding features of their new yacht and
how to operate it with assurance. This orientation cruise will also cover basic boat handling and docking procedures and
typically will last up to five hours. Additional hours may be purchased by the member or required

Basic Keelboat (ASA 101)

Learn to Sail in One Weekend

Prerequisite:
None
Days: Sat - Sun
Cost: $395

General Description:
Able to sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters
without supervision. A preparatory Standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required.

Basic Coastal Cruising & Bareboat Chartering (ASA 103/104)

Ready to sail a bigger boat for a longer trip? Want to charter a bareboat for a fun family vacation to some exotic locale?

Learn to Curise Regional Waters in Larger Yachts

Prerequisite: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat
Days: Mon - Wed
Cost: $895

General Description: An advanced cruising Standard for individuals with cruising experience. Able to cruise safely in local and
regionl waters as both skipper and crew on an auxilary powered sailboat of about 20 to 50 feet in length sailing by day in coastal
woters in moderate winds and sea conditions. The Standard includes knowldge of boat ystems and maintenance procedures.

Coastal Navigation (ASA 105)

Okay, you're ready to take a longer trip - but are you ready to safely navigate your boat if your GPS fails?

Learn to Navigate Your Yacht

Prerequisite:
None
Days: Sat - Sun
Cost: $445

General Description:
Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland
waters. There is no Sailing Skills part to this Standard and practical application of this sailing knowledge is found in the
Advanced Coastal Cruising Standard.

Advanced Coastal Cruising (ASA 106)

You've learned the basics. And you've mastered your navigational skills. Now, are you ready to sail at night? Under any weather conditions?

Learn to Cruise Day or Night in Any Weather

Prerequisite:
ASA 101, 103, 104, and 105
Days: Mon - Wed
Cost: $995

General Description: Able to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel about 30-50 feet in length. This is a day and
nighttime Standard in coastal and inland water, in any weather.
